I’m always looking for a better recipe, an awesome organizational idea, an ingenious “fix”, which is why Pinterest is my crack. I’ve been a member since last autumn, and it has quite literally changed my life. I had no idea how visually oriented I was until a few days into my Pinterest membership. Suddenly all those ideas running around in my head turned into “let’s do it!” instead of “wish I could…” Not a week goes by that doesn’t see me attempting something I’ve pinned, and this week was no exception.
Thanks to my summer work schedule, Memorial Day was a glorious 4-day weekend for me, and I tried several new things. Here’s the run down:
Tan Towels
FAIL – I just need to accept that fake tanning does not work with my body chemistry. Unless “Cheetos” is an acceptable skin color now.
Banana Banana Bread
WIN – Delicious, simple, and an excellent base recipe to customize as desired. Xander had some as a mid-morning snack on Sunday after spending the night and asked for more, so this is going in the Munchkin-friendly file, too.
Homemade Fly Strips
FAIL – I made them as directed. They were sticky and tasted sweet to me (just honey, sugar and water, no chemicals), but the flies weren’t the least bit interested. Maybe I have diabetic flies?
Fruit Fly Trap
WIN – In addition to regular flies, a giant cricket, and a slug I almost stepped on, some fruit flies took up residence in my house this weekend. (Yeah, I’m overrun by bugs.) I suspect it was the bananas I let sit out to ripen for the banana banana bread that drew the fruit flies in. Oh, you like bananas? Here, have a banana…and be trapped FOREVER! *mwahahaha*
Fix Broken Makeup
WIN – Amelia got into my makeup last week and dropped my PUR makeup compact on the floor. It was getting low on powder, so of course it “shattered”. I used the rubbing alcohol trick to renew it and ought to have at least another month of powder as a result. Yay!
